Flat steel boning is used for corsets and crinolines where a sturdy support is needed. Steel boning can flex forwards and backwards, but not sideways. The thickness of the steel is almost more important than the width, the thicker the more sturdy. This width and thickness, 14mm x 0,65mm, is best suited for hoop steel for paniers and crinolines as well as extra strength boning in corsets.
When making the hoops for a crinoline, make sure to overlap the ends a few centimeters to get that nice round shape. Garments with steel boning can be hand washed.
Can be purchased per meter or pack of 25m.
