Flat steel boning thick 7mm

Flat steel boning is used for corsets and crinolines where a sturdy support is needed. Steel boning can flex forwards and backwards, but not sideways. The thickness of the steel is almost more important than the width, the thicker the more sturdy. This width and thickness, 7mm x 0,65mm, is best suited for extra strength boning in corsets as well as slim hoop steel for paniers and crinolines. For corsetery, the ends need to be cut and filed down and then covered by metal end caps or tape. See art. Cap7. If you are making a crinoline, make sure the ends of the steel overlaps a few centimeters for a nice round shape of the hoops. Garments with steel boning can be hand washed.
